Ernesto “El Watusi” Bulnes is a Honduran-born, Miami-raised salsa dancer and coach based in Tampa, Florida. He co-directs Irôko Dance Academy with Denisse Cambria, where he trains social dancers and team performers in on2 technique, body movement, and musical interpretation.
A former principal dancer with Yamulee under Osmar Perrones, Ernesto is recognized for his clean New York mambo structure blended with Afro-Cuban movement. Earlier in his career he founded Potencia Latina Dance (2011) before shifting his focus to directing, performing, and teaching internationally.
As a competitor, Ernesto is a five-time World Champion in the Team Division with The New York Movement, and a four-time World Champion with Irôko Pro Team, the professional company he and Denisse lead in Tampa. Together, they are also two-time World Salsa Summit Pro Salsa Cabaret Champions (2019 & 2020).
Today, Ernesto & Denisse, along with their company Irôko, are among the most sought-after artists on the international salsa congress circuit. They are widely respected for their musical precision, elegant presentation, and emphasis on authentic Afro-Latin expression.
